This is the very beautiful and rare "Opal Glass" Edison Incandescent Lamp, circa 1884 - 1887. This lamp used a bamboo filament with full length platinum leads. This very early example of electric lighting history was the first Edison lamp made without the plaster ring, instead, it has the famous "ring-less" Edison short thread brass screw base, considered a very modern advance of its day. Other features include plaster of Paris insulation, partial Edison "Economic" label and a perfect evacuation tip. This Edison lamp is truly a wonderful collector's treasure.
