This 1890's electric lamp is called a "Combination Portable / Bracket Lamp" and has a factory marked brass "Edison lamp socket" with a beautiful green marble counterweight. This piece of early electric history has a wonderful round 8c frosted Edison carbon lamp. The Edison bulb has an early brass and porcelain base with an intact and working carbon two loop free standing filament in a 2 inch diameter glass globe. The bulb's length measures 2.5 inches. The factory Edison socket has mica insulation and a General Electric GECo. key switch. The original brass and porcelain plug has the early horizontal contact blades. This historic electric lighting outfit is a remarkable piece of early electric history
