This beautiful Edison "1882 Patent" light bulb has an exceptional carbon "U" shaped filament and a plaster of Paris filled, shouldered brass base. This base style is the famous "flat bottom" Edison standard screw thread base, and it is in exceptional condition. The globe is 3 inches in diameter, the filament is approximately 3.25 inches high and the overall length of the bulb, with the base, measures 6.75 inches. Three patent dates are on this New Type Edison label; June 14, 1881, Dec. 27, 1881 and Sept. 19, 1882. The "U" shaped hairpin carbon filament in this lamp is intact and working.
