In the early 1880's, Bernstein perfected his famous hollow woven silk ribbon filament for incandescent lamps. This early Bernstein lamp has a standing retired "Hairpin" filament made of Bernstein's famous hollow silk ribbon tube. This wonderful Bernstein lamp also has the double embossed rib brass "Thomson - Houston" base and a great Bernstein paper label. The lamp is 6.0 inches tall and has a 3.0 inch diameter globe. The Bernstein "Ribbon" Lamp, is truly a rare collectable piece of early electric lighting history.
