Here are two 1883 Ordnance Reports published by the Secretary of War, Washington D.C.; Ordnance Notes No. 249, Feb. 17, 1883, "The Future of Electric Lighting" (14 pages) and Ordnance Notes No. 287, April 11. 1883, "The Progress of the Electric Light" (12 pages). Both are full of wonderful information and history about the development of electric light, at the time it was actually happening and told by the very men who were involved. Much is said about Edison and his work and compared to his contemporaries; Gramme, Brush, Maxim, Swan, Lane-Fox and more. These are two very interesting and informative pieces of Edison -ian history.
