Here is an excellent Edison "1880 Patent" Hairpin Light Bulb for serious Edison collectors. This is the Edition 1880 Patent "long neck bamboo lamp. Edison's famous bamboo hairpin filament made the foundation of his great success. He worked throughout the decade of the 1880's to perfect this filament and his revered long neck lamp. This lamp also has his plaster of Paris filled, rolled brass collar screw base as well as his signature flat button contact, and note that each of the two platinum leads has only a single weld in the stew press area which is a well researched characteristic for verification (1889). This lamp gives 16 candlepower at 52 volts and the hand blown glass chamber is a beautifully formed "tipped" globe (Edison's early master glass blowers originally referred to the glass chamber as the "blow bowl"). The January 27, 1880 Edison Patent referred to on this lamp's label is the actual "Patent for Filament of Carbon of High Resistance" the one that made Edison the famous "Wizard of Menlo Park."
