This is a wonderful Ironclad Bi-polar motor & Blade on a Victorian Mahogany Candlestick Stand. It is still in remarkable working condition as can be seen from the photo (running on DC @ 6 volts). The 1890 line drawing insert on the right of the photo is from the Smithsonian Institute (see "Lighting A Revolution - The beginning of Electric Power" Smithsonian 1979, pg. 84). The line drawing depicts an early Victorian Electric Fan and is a great likeness of this museum item. This battery fan has a blade which is 4 leaf, measures 12 inches in diameter and is made of heavy brass. It is driven by a stout dynamo-electric bi-polar battery motor mounted on a beautiful pedestal base of fine Victorian mahogany, This Victorian candlestick base was made when craftsmanship was a respected way of life. The height of this extraordinary item is 21 inches from base to blade tip.
