Most Famous Lamps in the World
Famous Edison Lamp Collection DISCOVERED After Century in Darkness
These three great artifacts were found in the small wooden Tar-putty box: an ivory jeweler's loupe magnifier, a second old jeweler's loupe, and a small church key. The key fits the lock on the front of the wooden box. One can only wonder about the history behind these two old jeweler's loupes. Loupes were used by early lamp makers to examine the lamp filament and tiny lead-in clamps. Did the ivory loupe belong to Thomas Edison or John Howell, or perhaps one of the other Menlo Park Pioneers? Where these loupes perhaps used in the famous court battle by some of the famous lawyers, defendants, or witnesses, were they used by Edison's contemporaries like Lewis Latimer, Cyrus Brackett, Dr. Isaac Adams, Franklin Pope, Sir Hiram Maxim, Nikola Tesla, or Sir Joseph Swan? Old photographs of the Edison trial and of Edison Pioneers in his lab are being searched for potential clues that might help solve this great history mystery.
2006 makes these artifacts well over a century old
