John W. Howell's Letter - The writing on the letter below, from the wooden box has been matched to known samples of John W. Howell's signature and handwriting. The writing on the letter is indeed John W. Howell's. The hand written letter found in the small wooden box lists each lamp in some detail. The letter states, "These lamps (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) were made by J. W. Howell in 1890 for exhibits in the patent suit." The address on the letter (211 Ballantine Parkway) is John W. Howell's home address.
